The GoGlow5k Run/Walk event is a new concept that is less about speed and more about enjoying the fun course with your friends and family. Are you ready to GLOW. So whether you are a first time runner or an avid runner GoGlow5k invites you to come be a part of the fun.

There are three sure signs of summer-opening day at your hometown baseball field, the return of fireflies, and the first chance to dip your toes in your favorite watering hole. Join UBB, Half Moon Outfitters and Horny Toad in cleaning up the South Fork of Peachtree Creek at Zonolite Park.

Volunteers can park in the large parking area off Briarcliff Road. Be sure to be on the lookout for our cleanup tent! We’ll supply the free breakfast, bags, gloves, tools, and giveaways, you provide the hands. Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes for this event.

Moonshiner 5K Night Race

The Moonshiner 5k Night Race is being hosted by Half-Moon Outfitters on Friday September 28th at 7:30pm at Paris Mountain State Park. The Moonshiner 5k will cover trails in Paris Mountain State Park.

The Mission of the Moonshiner 5k is to provide a fun, safe and competitive experience for runners while raising money for a worthwhile charity. The race is a night trail race.

Half Moon Open Ocean Challenge (formerly Bodhi’s Revenge) , presented by Half-Moon Outfitters and Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), comes to Folly Beach, South Carolina on April 21, 2012.

Hot on the heels of the exciting Golden Nugget SUP Race, Half-Moon Open Ocean Challenge is the Charleston area’s only SUP surf slalom and Battle of the Paddle style event.

This event will appeal to intermediate and advanced paddlers as well as spectators. A unique surf-style race to the area, Half-Moon Open Ocean Challenge will feature a slalom surf course with buoy turns in the impact zone. The 2 mile short course will featured one loop with a beach sprint, while the long course will run the route twice with two beach sprints.

The Half-Moon Open Ocean Challenge will benefit the Charleston Waterkeeper. Charleston Waterkeeper is a data-driven, nonprofit organization focused 100% on water quality issues in the Ashley/Cooper River Basin and protecting Charleston's right to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. www.charlestonwaterkeeper.org

The race is a World Paddle Association Regional Event, so racers are expected to travel great distances to come to such a distinctive competition.

This is the first trail race to be held at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is a public educational facility operated under the auspices of the University of Georgia. It is a living laboratory for university students and faculty who utilize the collections and natural plant communities for studies in a variety of disciplines. The Garden is also a public garden for enjoyment by the general public who find beauty, knowledge and solitude in a garden setting.

All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia.

Per the race director there are no refunds and race numbers cannot be transferred to another person.

Foothills Drifter 6K Trail Race - 4th Annual

The Foothills Drifter 6K is the only trail run of its kind in Greenville, SC. A festive atmosphere is apparent and welcomes both the most advanced and novice runners. The race benefits the Lake Conestee Nature Park which consists of approximately 400 acres of beautiful natural habitat on the Reedy River just 6 miles south of downtown Greenville, South Carolina and is the "southern hub" of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

The Foothills Drifter 6k is a rain/sleet/snow or shine event. We have every intention of forging ahead regardless of weather and hope you are all up to the task! We have quite a track record with the weather man and expect the 3rd annual race will stick to the The 2011 race was held in 40 degree drizzle and the 2010 race was held in sleet and freezing rain. If Mother Nature brings it again, we think Clint Eastwood would want each of you to bundle up, strap on your running shoes and show us what you are made of!

Make My Day 12K Trail Race - 4th Annual

The fourth annual Make My Day 12k will take place on February 16th, 2013 in Columbia, SC at Harbison State Forest. This trail race encompasses three of the major trails in the forest (Firebreak, Stewardship, Midlands Mountain), giving each runner the chance to really experience the beauty of a local trail running venue.

The Make My Day 12k race is sponsored by Patagonia and Smartwool and these sponsors:

Harbison State Forest consists of over 2,000 acres of forestland only nine miles from downtown Columbia. It is one of the largest public greenspaces inside the city limits of a metropolitan area in the eastern US. Runners of all skill are invited to attend - from advanced to novice - this race has something for everyone!. So lace up those running shoes, grab some friends and come dominate some trails! Run local, support local!

All proceeds from the Make My Day 12k will go to Friends of Harbison State Forest! Currently $3,000 has been donated to the Sustainable Trails Fund to help continue the efforts of this group!

Reindeer Run - 22nd Annual

Half-Moon Outfitters Invites you to the Reindeer Run in Charleston, SC

Runners begin at 9:00 am and Walkers at 9:05 am. The race route starts and finishes in front of Southend Brewery.

The Reindeer Run, presented by Piggly Wiggly and Half-Moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston, SC. The event has grown significantly over the years; from only a few hundred participants to record attendance of over 3,200 runners in 2011. Throughout the history of the event, the Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) has donated over $500,000 to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2011 alone CSC donated $71,000 to the Children’s Hospital. The funds generated from the Reindeer Run help MUSC develop and maintain a variety of programs in the Children’s Hospital and the Darby Children’s Research Institute, including research in the prevention and treatment of childhood diseases.

Proceeds from the Reindeer Run are split between MUSC Children’s Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston. 80% of the funds go to the MUSC Children’s Hospital and 20% go to the Charitable Society of Charleston’s endowment. This endowment provides grants and donations to local non-profit organizations which benefit both children and elderly residents of the Lowcountry.

Bodhi’s Revenge SUP Race, presented by Half-Moon Outfitters and Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), comes to Folly Beach on April 22, 2012. Hot on the heels of the exciting Half-Moon Outfitters Golden Nugget SUP Race, Bodhi’s Revenge is the Charleston area’s first and only SUP surf slalom and Battle of the Paddle style event.

This inaugural event, in conjunction with the East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival, will appeal to intermediate and advanced paddlers as well as spectators. A surf-style race unique to the area, Bodhi’s Revenge will feature a surf course with buoy turns to add to the excitement for all. The intermediate route will feature one loop with a beach sprint, while the elite racers will run the route twice with two beach sprints.

Proceeds from Bodhi’s Revenge SUP Race are going to the Surfrider Foundation of Charleston. This non-profit environmental organization is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education (C.A.R.E).

As the race is a World Paddle Association-sanctioned event, event organizers expect that many racers will travel great distances to take part in such a distinctive competition. Cash and prizes will total over $5000.

The Foothills Drifter 6K is the only trail run of its kind in Greenville, SC. A festive atmosphere is apparent and welcomes both the most advanced and novice runners. The race benefits the Lake Conestee Nature Park which consists of approximately 400 acres of beautiful natural habitat on the Reedy River just 6 miles south of downtown Greenville, South Carolina and is the "southern hub" of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Reindeer Run - 21st Annual

Runners begin at 9:00 am and Walkers at 9:05 am. The race route starts and finishes in front of Southend Brewery.

The Reindeer Run, presented by Piggly Wiggly and Half-moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston, SC. The event has grown significantly over the years; from only a few hundred participants to record attendance of over 3,100 runners in 2010. Throughout the history of the event, the Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) has donated over $440,000 to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2010 alone CSC donated $71,000 to the Children’s Hospital. The funds generated from the Reindeer Run help MUSC develop and maintain a variety of programs in the Children’s Hospital and the Darby Children’s Research Institute, including research in the prevention and treatment of childhood diseases.

Proceeds from the Reindeer Run are split between MUSC Children’s Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston. 80% of the funds go to the MUSC Children’s Hospital and 20% go to the Charitable Society of Charleston’s endowment. This endowment provides grants and donations to local non-profit organizations which benefit both children and elderly residents of the Lowcountry.

On November 5, 2011, the Colonial Common (Colonial Lake and Moultrie Playground) will be transformed into the site of a day-long festival, honoring and celebrating Charleston’s right to clean, fishable, swimmable, and enjoyable waterways. The Great Oyster Point Runoff is a Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series Event, presented nationally by Toyota in partnership with KEEN.

WATER FESTIVAL — Sponsors, nonprofits, and water-focused clubs will be on hand to talk about the many ways to celebrate our waterways. Whether it be on, in, or around our water, we’ll have information for everyone. Vendors will be providing gear demos, workshops, and rentals for all those in attendance.

MUSIC — What’s a festival without music?! We’ve got a great lineup of music throughout the day, including the following acts: Mark Mandeville & Old Constitution, the South Carolina Broadcasters, and more.

FOOD & DRINK — Between food trucks (Taco Boy, Strada Cucina, and more) and oysters, we’ll make sure none of you go hungry during the Great Oyster Point Runoff. And to wash it all down, there will be a beer garden featuring local and national brewers dedicated to clean water and good brew!

The Golden Nugget SUP Race is being hosted by Half-Moon Outfitters on Sunday, October 16th at 3:00 pm at Shem Creek Landing. The Golden Nugget Race will be split into a Recreation 5k and an Elite 10k. 12'6 boards and under will be required for the 5k, while the 10k allows 14' and under boards.

The Golden Nugget Elite SUP race will be an official sanctioned event for the WPA.

The Mission of the Golden Nugget is to provide a fun, safe and competitive experience for paddlers while raising money for a worthwhile charity.

All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Mt. Pleasant Land Conservancy. Racers will receive complimentary access to the after party ($25 value) once the race is completed. Teams of two traverse a 6-7 mile off-road course and 5 obstacles. At the start of the race, one team member will run and one will ride the bike. At the 1st obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle, and begin running. The runner will arrive, complete the obstacle, find their bike and begin riding. Teams will continue leapfrogging each other through the entire course. The Foothills Drifter 6K is the only trail run of its kind in Greenville, SC. A festive atmosphere is apparent and welcomes both the most advanced and novice runners. The race benefits the Lake Conestee Nature Park which consists of approximately 400 acres of beautiful natural habitat on the Reedy River just 6 miles south of downtown Greenville, South Carolina and is the "southern hub" of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Runners begin at 9:00 am and Walkers at 9:05 am. The race route starts and finishes in front of Southend Brewery.

The Reindeer Run, presented by Piggly Wiggly and Half-moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston, SC. The event has grown significantly over the years; from only a few hundred participants to record attendance of almost 2,500 runners in 2008. Throughout the history of the event, the Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) has donated over $300,000 to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2008 alone CSC donated $51,000 to the Children’s Hospital. These funds help MUSC develop and maintain a variety of programs in the Children’s Hospital as well as The Darby Children’s Research Institute. This includes research in the prevention and treatment of childhood diseases.

Proceeds from the Reindeer Run are split between MUSC Children’s Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston. 80% of the funds go to the MUSC Children’s Hospital and 20% go to the Charitable Society of Charleston’s endowment. In 2008 the Reindeer Run contributed $12,000 to the CSC endowment. This endowment provides grants and donations to local non-profit organizations which benefit both children and elderly residents of the Lowcountry.

Like a Super Nova burning bright in the night sky comes Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. Based out of San Diego, KDTU began its journey in 1998 after bandleader Karl Denson decided to change gears five years after he’d help create The Greyboy Allstars. GBA had proven themselves as the ultimate party band, spreading their “West Coast Boogaloo” style all over the world, making “Jazz” a dance term once again. Karl set out to take this formula to the next level by putting more emphasis on vocals and adding some funk, r&b and hip hop elements. It turned out to be a winning combination which set KDTU on the top of the heap in the touring world from 1999 through 2005. In 2005 Karl decided to get back to his roots and work in a smaller jazzier setting. During 2006 and 2007 Karl led KD3, a trio configuration featuring Sax, Organ and Drums. This led to the 2007 release of KD3’s “Lunar Orbit”, an album which was a great critical success. In 2008, Karl rejoined his former boss Lenny Kravitz and spent the year country hopping through Europe and North America. In 2009 Karl went back into the studio and conjured up what is being hailed as the most soulful KDTU adventure yet, “Brother’s Keeper” which was released Sept 15th, 2009.

Teams of two traverse a 6-7 mile off-road course and 5 obstacles. At the start of the race, one team member will run and one will ride the bike. At the 1st obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle, and begin running. The runner will arrive, complete the obstacle, find their bike and begin riding. Teams will continue leapfrogging each other through the entire course. At the end of the race, racers crawl through the infamous Mud Pit crossing the finish line together as official “Muddy Buddies”!

Michael Franti is a very big man who has always dared to say very big things through his joyous and passionate music during an unusually diverse and highly impressive career. Yet for all the wide-ranging, yet consistent excellence of his body of work, what¹s most impressive about Michael Franti as a recording artist and live performer is his ability to inspire. Ultimately, the heartfelt music that Franti makes and his dedication to greater understanding on a global level, are not two aspects of his life, but very much one and the same.

Ryan Bingham is a rodeo bull rider turned Americana singer/songwriter. The song 'The Weary Kind (Theme Song from Crazy Heart)' that he co-wrote with legendary musician T-Bone Burnett for 'Crazy Heart' was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. Long before he was an Oscar nominee, Ryan Bingham was a real-life cowboy, a handsome roughneck living out his own version of a Cormac McCarthy novel. His music is dusty. It's smoky. It's packed with killer guitar riffs. It channels great country and folk rockers like Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and Lynyrd Skynyrd, but don't be fooled - it's still 100 percent Ryan Bingham.

Reel Rock Film Tour

Half-Moon Outfitters will host the REEL Rock film Tour on October 24, 2009 featuring Progression and First Ascent: The Series at Active Climbing climbing gym. The show starts at 8:00. Pre-show bouldering competition starts at 5:00. Post-Show Party and Concert will follow the film. This is a B.Y.O.B. Event. Guests are welcome to spend the night at the gym.
